Abstract:

This review explores the perceptions of emergency department (ED) staff regarding their working environment, highlighting key factors such as stress, teamwork, electronic systems, job satisfaction, and patient safety culture. ED professionals face significant challenges, including high stress levels, burnout, role ambiguity, and resource constraints, which can negatively impact job satisfaction and staff retention. Despite these challenges, several opportunities for improvement are identified, including the implementation of well-being programs, fostering a collaborative team culture, and introducing flexible scheduling and mentoring initiatives. Enhancing electronic systems and strengthening patient safety culture are also critical for improving operational efficiency and staff morale. A comprehensive approach involving organizational support, interprofessional collaboration, and resource investment is essential to address these issues, improve staff well-being, and ultimately enhance patient care quality.
