Plastic pollution is a significant environmental and public health issue due to its non-biodegradable nature and widespread usage. Homemakers often use plastic in daily routines, lacking awareness of its harmful effects. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on knowledge regarding ill effects of plastic usage among homemakers. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was adopted with 30 homemakers selected through convenient sampling. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. Results showed in the pre-test assessment out of 30 samples 9 samples (30%) had inadequate knowledge, 21 samples (70%) had moderately adequate knowledge and none of them had adequate knowledge. In the post-test assessment out of 30 samples, 10 samples (33.33%) had adequate knowledge and 20 samples (66.67%) had moderately adequate knowledge and none of them had inadequate knowledge. In overall, pre-test mean was 8.26standard deviation was 1.45, post-test mean was 14.03 and standard deviation was 2.63. And paired t rest value was 10.10 which is significant. Significant improvement in post-test knowledge (mean = 14.03) compared to pre-test (mean = 8.26), with a paired t-test value of 10.1 at p<0.05. The intervention proved effective in enhancing awareness among homemakers.
